A suspected drunken driver is facing charges after authorities say he ran over a federal officer’s leg while trying to avoid arrest in Farmington, New Mexico.
The Farmington Daily-Times reported 21-year-old Charles Palmer was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated follow the encounter with a U.S. Bureau of Land Management ranger.
Court documents allege BLM Ranger Cole Blevins tried to stop Palmer after spotting a group of young adults drinking. The documents say Palmer started a vehicle, and Blevins grabbed onto him from outside and held onto him as he drove away.
When Blevins let go, authorities say his left leg was run over by the truck. He was not seriously injured.
At press time, the BLM hasn’t decided if it would file federal charges against Palmer, and reports were unclear whether Palmer had an attorney.

The Getaway Schwinn
A New Mexico burglary suspect is facing additional charges after Roswell police say he slipped out of his handcuffs and tried to make a getaway using a small girl’s bicycle.
KRQE-TV reports that 32-year-old Manuel Munoz was initially arrested during a suspected burglary at a storage building.
According to police, officers found Munoz hiding under a desk.
Police say Munoz then managed to get out of his handcuffs and run from police. That’s when police say he found the tiny girl’s bike and attempted his escape.
He was eventually caught again.
Munoz is charged with breaking and entering, escaping from custody, resisting and evading police.
It was unclear if he had an attorney.

Police say a New Mexico woman who confronted a masked intruder in her home stumbled upon a shocking discovery when she ripped off his disguise – the robber was her grandson.
KRQE-TV reported 22-year-old Thomas Clark is facing robbery charges after police say he stole his grandmother’s purse during a bizarre robbery at an Albuquerque home.
According to police, the woman confronted Clark, dressed in black with a purple bandanna over his face, last week when he broke into her home.
Police say the woman yanked off the mask but Clark pushed her and fled with her purse.
He was arrested later at his parents’ home.
Police say he confessed and said he did it for casino money.
Clark may wish he was in protective custody after his Mama finishes with him.
